Traditionally double bathroom vanities are only an option for larger bathrooms. At a minimum, most models clock in at a hefty 60″ wide, which is about – you guessed it – twice as wide as your average single vanity, and they can easily span twice that width. But while big double bathroom vanities are great for fleshing out a large bathroom, not all bathrooms have room for such a hefty piece of furniture. Different kinds of sinks – like a counter with integrated sinks that are very very close together or a trough style sink – can somewhat minimize the elbow bumping, but if the primary goal is to get two sinks and separate storage for two, even the smallest double vanities provide it. You just need to pay close attention to which storage features will work the best for you and your partner, whether it means two large cabinets, lots of shared drawers, or somewhere in between.
And of course, you can find designs that fall somewhere in the middle, shaving an inch or two here or there off different parts of the vanity. In the “under 60 inch” category, you can find bathroom vanities everywhere from 48 inches all the way up to 59 and practically every half inch in between. When choosing double bathroom vanities somewhere in this middle ground, really be aware of how much wiggle room you have in terms of width. A few inches can make a big difference, both in a small space and in the amount of available storage.
