Introducing New Stylish Statement Furniture And Lighting From Oggetti

There are a lot of ways to go about decorating a room, whether you start with an architectural feature, an overarching style or aesthetic, or a color swatch. But if you aren’t super confident in your decorating abilities, picking one eye-catching piece you love and building a room around it is a good place to start. It’s this kind of bold, statement furniture that Oggetti specializes in, with an emphasis on unique and unusual modern pieces that can easily set the style for an entire room.

Simple, Striking Geometry

One of the main hallmarks of Oggetti’s furniture and lighting collections is an emphasis on striking modern geometry. The vast majority of their pieces – particularly their furniture – rely either on geometric simplicity or geometric complexity as the foundation of their style. On the one hand, that means very minimalist modern furnishings that are beautiful in their sparseness, arranging basic shapes in unique ways to create eye-catching silhouettes without a lot of intricacy or ornamentation. On the other hand…

Repeating Shapes And Lines

…some of Oggetti’s most stunning furniture is made of intricate geometric webs, tesseracts, vortexes, and vectors – parametric designs that repeat the same simple shapes over and over again, slightly offset to create mesmerizing patterns. These are great if you want a look that’s more highly detailed and complex, but still has a streamlined modern feel. Pieces that use only perfectly straight overlapping and intersecting lines are a great way to add a little depth to a stark minimalist decor, while more complicated shapes can easily be picked up and repeated throughout a room to create an overarching geometric design.

Intricate, Mathematically-Inspired Patterns

As a subset of this, many of Oggetti’s pieces overlay simple line-based patterns onto curved shapes, from translucent three-dimensional plaid stripes to dramatic modern takes on traditional wicker caning. The results are lighting fixtures and accent furniture that look almost computer-generated, like 3D graphs and models made physical. When these designs don’t dominate the piece entirely, they’re often still evident in the design; many of Oggetti’s tables are inlaid with complex geometric starbursts, formed from repeating hexagons, and so on.

Artistic Asymmetry

Not all of the furniture by Ogetti is mathematically perfect, though: some of it is designed to be deliberately asymmetrical or amorphic. Instead of uniform, repeating shapes, these feature designs that have similar intersecting planes and surfaces, but ones that are odd-shaped and irregular, meant to be eye-catching by virtue of breaking away from the perfect angles and simple lines that define a modern design. But this, too, makes them great accents in a modern space; while you may not want (or be able) to extrapolate these more unusual shapes to the rest of your decor, they can serve nicely as an interruption to an otherwise very linear design, giving your space a little extra personality.

Natural Materials With A Twist

Many of Oggetti’s pieces also showcase natural materials, but not quite in the way you might expect. Lots of organic modern furniture uses smooth, polished, unadorned wood surfaces, making the grain of the wood the main decorative element of the piece. Oggetti, on the other hand, uses a sort of high-quality, decorative particleboard: layers of different materials that are shaped, compressed, and sealed, creating unique furnishings with a prominent and eye-catching faux “grain” that emphasizes the elegant curves of the piece.

Italian Blown Glass Lighting

Last but certainly not least,  Oggetti has an extensive collection of fine Italian blown-glass lighting. Each piece is individually made by hand, featuring bright, bold colors, unique patterns, and often eye-catching textures reminiscent of Murano glass beads. These fixtures are genuine one-of-a-kind works of art, with subtle variations in color and design due to their artisan craftsmanship,  and make for beautiful statement pieces that can light up a room both figuratively and literally!
