It’s that time again: when this year’s trend predictions start coming to life as designers and decor manufacturers roll out their new looks for spring and summer. James Martin Furniture is no exception, with the hefty addition of nearly a dozen completely new collections, as well as a few updates to existing favorites. This year, the focus is largely on bringing a more contemporary feel back to the catalog, with a variety of new, streamlined vanities. These new collections seek to fill the gap left after the company changed manufacturers in 2014 and retired many of their more modern vanities. So if you’ve been looking for a bathroom vanity that’s sleek and simple but made of high quality, durable materials, 2019 might be your year!

James Martin’s new Silverlake collection is nicely representative of the update as a whole: simple, modern, and more elegant than you’d expect from similar vanities from other brands. Most modern wall mounted vanities are pretty basic in design, with a plain rectangular shape and unornamented slab cabinets. The Silverlake collection is no exception in this regard, and it fills the lack in James Martin’s collection of a more-or-less standard modern wall mounted vanity. That said, they come with a sense of style, with really gorgeous and distinctive hardware and two color options, not to mention a few high-end perks, like a built in outlet and USB charger, and the high quality finishes and door and drawer hinges that come standard on all of James Martin’s bathroom vanities.

If you don’t like the look of a purely wall mounted vanity (or don’t want to do the wall mounting), you’re in luck: the new Westlake collection adopts the cabinet design of the Silverlake vanities, but with the addition of sturdy stainless steel legs. These thick, simple metal bands emphasize the modern feel of the vanity and spare you having to put some holes in your wall.
The new Bainbridge collection also has a much more contemporary feel than most of James Martin’s previous offerings. In this case, the vanities are freestanding, with a light oak finish that’s perfect for creating a bathroom with a more natural or spa-like feel. These also have very distinctive hardware that helps elevate the simple design, and sinks integrated into their thick slab countertops, which looks particularly striking on their larger double vanities. While these are only available in one color, the counters are available in two colors and a few different styles, and like the Silverlake and Westlake collections, they come equipped with USB outlets and are available in a wide range of sizes to fit just about any bathroom.

The new Echo Park collection is all about modern elegance, combining a fairly simplified silhouette with a few ornamental details to create a striking combination of old and new. The brushed nickel ornamental handles and edging paired with the decorative, traditional-feeling legs elevate this vanity from a simple square white cabinet to a really distinctive statement piece. Unlike many of James Martin’s new additions, the Echo Park vanities come in only one size and color, but with options to customize the sink and countertop, which can create a finished look that’s either more traditional or more modern.
Not much to say here: the Ventura collection takes the cabinet design from the Echo Park collection and lops off the legs, creating a slightly more streamlined wall mounted bathroom vanity. That said, it retains all of the same features otherwise, including all the sink and counter top options and the built-in outlet.
The Lakeside collection is easily the most limited of James Martin’s new offerings, but it’s also a personal favorite. Designed to mimic the ladder-style shelves that are oh-so-popular right now, the Lakeside vanities are a supremely minimalist option, with lots of white space and a striking silhouette…plus enough storage options to be useful – though maybe better for a guest bathroom than a master suite.
The new Lineage collection is another relatively small but very stylish one, with midcentury-modern inspired cabinets in only one size, but two colors and multiple sink/counter configurations. While many of the new collections emphasize very smooth, simple surfaces, the Lineage vanities offer a little bit of a throwback, with ridged, textured surfaces that feel a little like beadboard on the white vanities, and very retro on the walnut ones. While still simple in design, these pack a lot more punch in terms of visual interest on the outside, and are even cooler on the inside, where they’re equipped with four pull-out shelves to improve the accessibility of the cabinets, as well as built a built in outlet.
The Linear collection has a similar look and feel to the Lineage vanities, but actually marks a very big update to a previously very small collection. Originally only offering a few small vanities in one color, the Linear collection now comes in a wide range of sizes (both single and double vanities) and four different finishes. Visually, the Linear vanities apply the textured surface of the Lineage vanities to a more traditional cabinet-and-drawer design, topped with the distinctive integrated sinks shared with the Bainbridge collection. The one big drawback? Only the larger vanities come equipped with built-in outlets.
The Tiburon collection is another existing, smaller collection that James Martin has expanded significantly this year, in this case by adding half a dozen new finishes as well as new options for integrated sink/counters and stylish backlit mirrors. Like the Silverlake collection, Tiburon vanities have a fairly simple rectangular, wall mounted design, but with a stronger emphasis on wood grain that gives them a more natural feel, and decorative hardware with a subtly more traditional style. The result? A very contemporary vanity with a more laid back feel.
As with the Westlake collection, the vanities from the Sonoran collection are simply Tiburon vanities with legs, but in this case the design is a little more intricate. Rather than simple steel bar-style legs, Sonoran vanities have a more complete framework, including multiple levels of shelf storage beneath the main cabinet. Not only is this great for adding more storage to your vanity while maintaining some of the visually-appealing white space, but the design of the legs themselves are quite striking, and help emphasize the modern feel of the vanities.
James Martin’s Mercer Island collection is one that’s seen the most dramatic update, despite the actual changes being relatively small. Like the Tiburon collection, Mercer Island was previously a very limited collection which now comes in a much wider variety of colors. But this collection doubles down on the upgrade by also adding several new vanity sizes and a major update to the hardware. While the original drawer and door pulls are still available, they’re now also offered in a striking gold finish. Warm metals are incredibly popular this year, and while it might seem like a small change, the result is very eye catching.
The Columbia collection is an entirely new one, but as with several others, it’s an offshoot of the Mercer Island collection, again offering all the same vanity cabinets, but with legs rather than a simple wall mounted design. Like the Sonoran collection, the legs have built-in shelves, but in this case they’re also available in that same eye-catching gold finish, which makes them great for adding a little extra warmth and elegance to your bathroom.
Last but not least is the Brittany collection, a long-standing favorite from James Martin that tends to get at least a small update with each of their new catalogs. This year, the collection has stayed largely the same, but with the addition of a new, deep navy blue finish on all the vanities throughout the collection. Dark blues and greens have been coming to the fore this year, and blue vanities are great for adding a pop of color to your bathroom – especially if you’re trying to liven up an all-white bathroom.
In years past, James Martin has focused heavily on expanding their transitional collections, but this year contemporary styles are a clear winner. If you’re looking for a streamlined-yet-stylish bathroom vanity that’s well made and packed with storage and luxury features, look no further than James Martin’s new spring collection.
